Dev Log: Lava & Livestock
about 1 month ago – Wed, Mar 27, 2024 at 10:08:21 AM

Greetings Star Stewards!

We are back with another dev log! There are some really exciting things in store for you guys and coming sooner rather than later... get ready to get excited!

Prepare to Explore the Summit

A new area of the planet has been discovered and is being prepared for your exploration!

Vulcan's Summit is hot - super hot. I guess you could say the open pits of lava might be responsible for that. Discover new wildlife, a new mining location, and even take a peek at Duyi's lander while you're wandering the summit.

Make sure not to miss out on the "coolest" part of the summit however - there is a natural hot spring! With a little bit of fixing and questing, you can get the hot springs up and running to relax in and recover stamina.

Cows, Chickens, and... Robo-Cows and Robo-Chickens?

You wanted Robo-Cows. You're getting Robo-Cows!

The long-awaited livestock feature is starting to look like it belongs on your farmstead. With a barn and special fencing to keep them contained and safe, you'll soon be able to have your own little herd of friends on your farm. Just be careful to not get stuck in the gate!

If you want to be a normal farmer, you'll be able to get your cows and chickens through the resident animal lover Dirk. We know the truth however... you want to visit Aaron to get some robo-livestock.

Until next time...

Long Awaited Update + Upcoming Content!
2 months ago – Tue, Feb 27, 2024 at 03:27:00 PM

Hello everyone!

First things first....

We would like to apologize for the long period of silence here in regards to updates. The last few months have been full of changes where the team buckled down through a period of hard focus on the feedback and suggestions we've received from players since EA launch to get bugs fixed and QoL improvements added. While this doesn't excuse our silence, we hope the frequent updates from here on out will help demonstrate our commitment moving forward.

Have you updated recently?

Depending on how long it has been since you played, there have been a ton of changes to the game!  So if you've been waiting on an update here to see what's changed in the game before diving in for the first time or again, today is the day. I've added the entire list of patch notes since the last update so you can give it a good read... or you could skip down to upcoming!

The future of One Lonely Outpost

We know many of you have concerns about the amount of content currently in game and how long it has taken to get where we are today. It has been a long and bumpy road, but we wholeheartedly believe in the path ahead and are excited to begin sharing upcoming content now that we have handled the majority of bugs and made some highly requested QoL improvements. Introducing Sally!

We know her lander snuck in and has been making you all very curious about the new NPC that has been hiding. Well, wonder no more!

Sally is the colony’s shy but capable psychiatrist, counselor, and first responder. She's known to trip over her own feet sometimes but despite that special skill, she is a very reliable community member.

Although she hasn't actually landed yet, you'll get to interact with her - and even romance her! - in a future update.

Romance & Dating

After building a relationship with a romanceable character and reaching 60 relationship points (we'll go over this next time!), you’ll be able to craft and gift an omni-bouquet to them to trigger a special dialogue to begin dating.

Keep in mind you’ll only be able to date one NPC at a time, so choose carefully!

Once you are officially dating an NPC, you will be able to hang out with them on the Farmstead! Aaron, Eve, Linny, Dirk, Sally, and Fadhili will be the romanceable and datable characters in the future, though there are many more that will come as the game development progresses.

All the unique cutscenes are still in progress for most, but Aaron and Linny will show you the dating experience we have been working towards.

Until next time...

First Major Update + Content Roadmap
8 months ago – Wed, Aug 23, 2023 at 10:14:56 AM

Hello everyone!

The first major update has arrived!

Before we dive into the new patch notes with additions and changes, we have an extra surprise - the official content roadmap! We know many of you have been waiting for this to be released and we are excited to share our current goals and plans with you.

Today’s update crosses off the Summer 2023 section and we are getting to work on the content update for Fall 2023. Now it’s time to dive into the content included for the first major update!

This update includes a brand new calendar feature, full controller support including UI icons, and character customization. Players can now customize their character at any point in time while playing - no need to start over! To change your look, head over to the wardrobe in your lander.

The calendar feature will help you keep track of the weather, key events, and what day of the week you’re on - including payday! For now it only has PreSeason, but as the game progresses through development the calendar will play a big role in helping you out.

And last but not least, we have full controller support! Although there’s been decent support up until this point, things have officially come to a close. There is a controller map for reference that can be found in your Omni-Tool OS and menus and inventory now show controller prompts for interactions if you’re using one.

With all that said, it's time to play! Get your controllers out, customize your characters, and have a blast. Don’t forget you can join our community Discord if you haven’t already to share your feedback with the team and hang out with our awesome community.

10 months ago – Tue, Jun 27, 2023 at 05:21:46 PM

Hello everyone!

It’s been a full 24 hours since release! Thank you all so much for your support and feedback especially through Steam reviews. Steam reviews make a huge difference for us as indie developers! If you’re not on our Discord, please come join it as that will be the best place to leave us comments & suggestions, plus interact with our awesome community!

Before we launch into what's ahead for the game-we will be sending out keys to the soundtrack in the next hour! So keep an eye on your emails!

Launching into Early Access brings a ton of feedback and we love seeing all of it. We are working right now on prioritizing and evaluating your feedback and suggestions. We held off on launching with a roadmap because we felt it was important to see player’s feedback before we committed to a roadmap. That being said, we are preparing one that will be available soon.

More immediately, on launch day we sent out Patch #1 addressing feedback we got from the demo. Here’s a list of those changes already in the game:

-There is immediate feedback when placing Ore in the Omnismelter.
-Items taken out from the Omnismelter can now be stacked.

-Map names are displayed under the Stamina bar when entering a map.
-Esc is now the default key to open the Menu.
-Increase of the Character's base movement speed.
-Roast Carrots now give a movement speed boost for 3 hours.
-Solar Panels have an increased area of effect.

In addition, we already have Patch #2 that will be available by the end of the week. And are hard at work on Patch #3 to follow soon after.

Following the immediate patch schedule, you can expect us to push out major updates bi-monthly with minor updates and patches as needed. Currently, this is what we are prioritizing and what will be coming in patch #2 and #3:

Patch #2
-
Fix for Terraform texture

-Fix for Shop UI missing portrait

Coming Soon(™)

-Character customization

-UI Resizing

Eventually, the final game will of course have: Livestock, more NPCs, more crafting recipes, 2 more story acts, additional areas, deeper NPC relationship and dating system, seasons, character customization and lots more!

Thank you all again so much and if you’ve played the demo-we have much more content in our early access launch! You can look forward to 10-15 hours of story content across 4 maps. This content will only grow as we move further to our 1.0 release. We'll be continuing to collect and sift through your feedback and input as we plan out future patches and updates. So, remember to please share your thoughts with us through a Steam review or by joining our Discord!
