Latest Updates from Our Project:

Steam Page, Multiplayer, and Winter Wonder Land Update!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Dec 15, 2020 at 08:36:33 PM

Steam Page is LIVE!

It’s finally official! We have a Steam page where you all can go show your continued support by wishlisting the game - Lets blow up the wishlist numbers the same way we did Kickstarter!

 https://store.steampowered.com/app/1465550/One_Lonely_Outpost/

We greatly appreciate all of the support that everyone has shown so far in our journey. To continue supporting us, we ask that you all please go wishlist the game. By doing so, you help us grow the community and help get this game in front of more people!

Along with wishlisting the game, please also share it with your friends and family - while things aren't as intense as the Kickstarter, our page launch is still very important. The more interest we get right now, the more steam will show One Lonely Outpost to others!

Also, why not join our Discord if you haven't already where you can interact with us (the devs) and become more of a part of our own (not so) lonely outpost! There's also many backers who have yet to claim their discord rewards, so join up to get yours if you backed at $45 or higher!

Co-Op Online Multiplayer!

We are now able to fully confirm that co-op Online multiplayer will be available with the full release of the game in 2022! This was by far the #1 most requested feature, and we've found a way to make it happen. Make sure to tell your friends so they can Wishlist One Lonely Outpost too!

More info about how it will work can be found on the steam page linked above! You can also ask specific questions on the discord which us devs will answer as best we can - many fine details are still pending some design and technical planning though.

Winter Wonderland Update

Our next Alpha update will be out by December 21st, so those who backed at the Forerunner tier and above will have a chance to check out a very early version of the in-game winter festival!

In addition, the first step in growing the town itself will be included - the Colony Hub construction. Gather resources and help your fellow colonists build the heart of your new outpost. Some other things to expect from it:

  • Winter weather and general weather improvements
  • Finnick, a new NPC
  • More Cutscenes
  • Early game quests
  • QWERTY fetch game
  • Many bugfixes (including a much needed fix to the save system)
Sneak peek of a snow-covered winter wonder land!
Finnick, the gentle giant, will be unlockable in this update!

Thank you again for all of your support. And again, please wishlist the game on Steam and continue showing that support - we couldn't have gotten this far without you!

October plans, discord roles, and more!
about 4 years ago – Tue, Oct 20, 2020 at 02:14:28 PM

October Plans

The dust has settled from the Kickstarter, and we're getting things going. Team members are getting everything in order to move full-steam on the project. You can expect us to be working on some Quality of Life updates for the next Alpha build (we're working on a control schema refactor, and possibly changes to targeting indicators and maybe even save game functionality), along with some Halloween-themed content as an early prototype for in-game events!

Some early sketches we've already started on :)

We are also working on getting a roadmap going so you can track what we're working on, and how things are going as we progress. We are also updating and upgrading our server to better provide for the community.

Discord Roles & Other Backer Rewards

We're almost ready to get people discord roles! We will be sending out a survey to collect the necessary information in the next 24 hours. Later this month, those who pledged at higher tiers will get other surveys for things like the thank you letters. If you haven't already reached out about your $350 tier reward or above, please do so! We're happy to get you started this month.

One last shout-out to some other cool indie games

We've had a lot of other really cool indie projects help us get the word out during our Kickstarter, and just really cool other projects we've noticed along the way. We had a huge struggle getting the word out about One Lonely Outpost - and it's thanks to grass roots help from our backers, as well as some very generous donations from our backers that we were able to raise as much as we did. Now that we are successful, it's become something of a personal mission of mine to raise awareness of other cool indie games out there where appropriate. I won't bother you all with more shout-outs here after this, but we created an ongoing place to share other cool upcoming indie games on our server, so be sure to check it out!

Oh, and I've personally backed all of these games, so I'm not just saying - I really do think they look great!

A Fox Tale

I gave a shout-out to them before, but I'd like to give another since they are still not quite to their goal with only a couple days left - the beautiful art and fluid looking gameplay really stuck out to me. They only need to raise a bit more to meet their goal! We made 8k in our last 2 days, I believe they can too!

Just a snippet, they have a really cool full trailer on their page!

Kapia

It may not have the 2D style in common or the farming elements, but the quirky characters, setting, and style made me feel like Kapia would be right at home along side our game. I'd love to see it succeed, and they aren't asking for much, so check them out maybe :)

Lonesome Village

This game has a ton of similarities to ours, and neither of us knew about one another till our Kickstarters were both live! While our game is more farm-sim, Lonesome village is more life-sim, with a heavier focus on zelda-like combat, and in a fantasy setting.  Just 11 days left - it deserves a look at least!

Ooblets

It's not on Kickstarter, but it is in early access on Epic store! One of the devs from this amazing looking game gave us a shout out on twitter, and encouraged us to drop a link in their server too :)

What's not to like about farming mushrooms to hold pokemon-style dance off battles? Maybe it can hold you over till One Lonely Outpost early access starts ;)

KICKSTARTER COMPLETE!!!
about 4 years ago – Sat, Oct 03, 2020 at 11:19:17 AM

We did it!

It was a seriously wild ride, but here we are, over 150% funded, ready to make an amazing game for you to play! We literally couldn't have done this without all of you, our backers. We're honestly in awe of how much the community came together to make this happen. We, the One Lonely Outpost team, put in plenty of our own sweat and tears, but it wouldn't have been enough without the sharing and networking our fans and backers did to support us through this.

Stretch Goal & Backer Challenges round-up

In the end, we unlocked all of the original stretch goals, including Vehicles, XBox/Playstation support, Robo Animal customization & Live Animal breeding, even the Lava Region was unlocked!

For the Backer Challenge rewards, in total, we met the goals for: Exclusive Furniture, hair style, hat, Starting Gauntlet (your futuristic farming tool) which is 10% more energy efficient, an Exclusive pet, and a collection of short stories - one for EVERY character in the final game!

In addition, because we got SO close to another 3 challenges, I'll be sending out a 1-time alpha demo in the next few days!

What's next?

We are going to be getting some things squared away for the rewards which can go out within the first week, including Discord roles & access, Alpha Access, and any/all 'Creator' tier ($220 and above) rolling right away.

The Wallpapers will go out over the course of development; our current plan is to release a few before Early Access, and another few by the time the game launches!

In 7 months, once we are gearing up for 'Earlier Access', we will send out a survey where you can choose which platform you want to choose!

The thank you letters will be sent out within 6 months is our current plan, so you should receive a survey regarding that if you packed at $120 or above as well.

A merchandise store will be available in the next 8 months as well, if all goes well, and those who pledged at $120 and above will be kept in the loop, getting first dibs, early access to it, and even a discount code to use on your favorite item!

We're getting right to work, so for those who will be following the development, expect to hear more from us soon!

One Lonely Outpost Kickstarter EXTENDED 5 DAYS! Plus XBox and Playstation support!
about 4 years ago – Tue, Sep 29, 2020 at 04:25:03 PM

XBox and Playstation Stretch Goal met!

The day before yesterday we hit our XBox and Playstation stretch goal, and we're nearly up to Robo Animal customization now! This means that when the game is released in 2 years, you will be able to play on your XBox Series X or Playstation 5 - and very possibly your XBox One and Playstation 4 as well! We need to confirm a few things before we can guarantee support for the current gen of consoles though - it's very possible they simply won't allow for new PS4/XBOne releases in 2 years! You can select any console available (now including PC/Mac/Linux, Nintendo Switch, XBox, and Playstation) in 12 months when Early Access hits - no need to make the decision now!

Robo Animal customization soon, Lava Region looks to be in reach - we'll get more goals posted very soon!

Kickstarter EXTENDED! Yeah!!! Wait, why?

Brad, Project Lead here - It's quite a surprise, even for us, but Kickstarter approved our extension! Now we have 5 days to get MORE stretch goals, MORE Backer Challenges met, and make this game even better. We will be adding additional stretch goals too!

While our project already had passed its goal, we knew it could go further. Earlier on in the campaign, my wife had to be hospitalized for surgery complications. Due to COVID-19 related precautions and policies, her hospital stay, treatment, and recovery were set back by about 5 days, during which I was not able to spread the word or communicate effectively with backers and fans. I am happy to answer further questions about what happened and how, but would prefer to do so via messaging rather than a public post. She's home and doing much better now, but just yesterday the fans in our discord brought to my attention that Kickstarter has been allowing limited extensions for those impacted by the pandemic. We reached out, and they approved it!

Will it be extended again?

No. Kickstarter is very clear about how much time they will extend a campaign by, and that it's a big exception to their normal policy of not changing the project's end date. We are so thankful to Kickstarter for giving us these 5 days back that were lost due to the knock-on effects of COVID-19. We can truly make One Lonely Outpost the best it can possibly be!

Thanks for joining us on this journey. From our space-loving family to yours - thank you for joining us, and being patient for just a few more days so we can make this game as amazing as possible!
